To better connect with our community, we are rolling out text message alerts!
Back in May we tried to roll out text message alerts only to discover that the sign-up form removed people from our mailing lists, so we shut it down. We have a new way to sign up for text notifications, so we are rolling this out again.
Signing up is easy! Just text JOIN to 843-868-8357
You can now receive event announcements, reminders and SHL news–quick updates,160 characters or less–straight to your phone. Never miss out on what’s happening in our community!
A few notes about our text notifications:
- Our text messaging service is provided by MailChimp, the same service we use for emails. However, due to a “known issue” we can’t associate your number with your email signup–that is what caused the problem the first time around. So even if you’ve provided your phone number in the past, you’ll need to sign up specifically for text alerts, using the above prescribed method.
- All text message notifications we send out will come from the same number: 843-868-8357. That is also the number you use to sign up. However, we cannot receive other messages from you at this number. As best as we can tell, any message other than “JOIN”, “STOP”. or “HELP” disappears into the ether.
