We send out quite a few emails, and not everyone wants all that “content” in their inbox. We have created several special interest sub-lists that allow you to tailor the content you receive. Our current mailing list offerings are listed below. You can sign up for our mailing lists using the button below:

Monthly Newsletter: If you only want to receive one email a month from us, then make this the only list you are signed up for. Our goal is to have all our events for the coming month planned far enough in advance that we can put them all into a monthly newsletter.

General Announcements: This is the primary channel for information about our monthly member gatherings, normally held on the 3rd Sunday of the month. It is also a catch all for any content that doesn’t fit into one of the other special-interest sub-lists.

Secular Families: This mailing list is for kid-friendly activities specifically targeted at secular families. While we welcome your children at nearly all our events, some activities may involve content that would not be of interest to or appropriate for children, e.g. an R-rated film for movie club. We would like to offer family oriented programming to foster a community for secular families. Unfortunately, we do not currently have anyone to lead family activities, so there probably won’t be much, if any, family-oriented programming until we can find a volunteer to take that on. Secular Activists: Political activism, specifically relating to separation of Church and State, is a major interest for our community, and a matter of great urgency in our current political climate. This mailing list will alert you to actions you can take to advocate for secular rights, to combat the rising tide of Christian Nationalism, and to organize our community for political action.

Volunteer Network: Service to the community is important to SHL. This mailing list will alert you to volunteer opportunities you can take individually as well as volunteer activities we will be doing as a group.

Happy Humanist Hour (Dinner Club): We normally go out to a restaurant on the second Tuesday of every month for food, drinks and fellowship. Get an email when we announce the next planned dinner out. We will also use this mailing list to announce our 5th Sunday Brunches.

Book Club: Book club meets normally on the 4th Sunday of the Month. This mailing list will receive announcements after each meeting, periodic surveys about what books we might want to read, and other information that may be of interest to book club participants.

Movie Club: We normally go to a matinee on the 1st Sunday of the month, followed by food, drinks and discussion of the film at a nearby restaurant. Because showtimes are typically not released until the Tuesday or Wednesday before, we send out a survey about one week before to do a ranked-choice vote on movies we expect to be playing. To receive the survey and an announcement of the movie selection, as well as other content that may be of interest to movie-lovers, sign up for this mailing list.
