With early voting for the general election coming up Monday, October 19, I feel the need to remind folks that counties are having a critical shortage in poll workers. A few months ago, gearing up for the primaries, I wrote about the importance of poll workers. You can find that article here.
In addition to all of those excellent reasons to be a poll worker, I’ll give you a few more:

If you are uneasy about the local elections being interfered with, being a poll worker and observing the procedures will put your mind at ease.

If you are fearful that certain individuals will try to vote more than once, the training you will receive will prove to you that it just can’t happen.

Are you worried that legally registered voters may be turned away from the polls without voting? Be the solution! Poll workers are trained to help voters resolve the issues at the polls.
As someone who has been a poll worker for three years, I can tell you that it is rewarding work and being a part of the process helped me feel confident that our elections are secure. But they are secure because of dedicated people in the community who give up their time to make sure the rules are followed. Please consider becoming a poll worker.
