The 25th anniversary screenings of Dogma, titled “Dogma: Resurrected! A 25th Anniversary Celebration“, will take place on June 5, 2025, across over 1,500 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, and the SHL Movie Club is going! These special events feature a newly remastered 4K version of the film, accompanied by exclusive bonus content available only in theaters. The extended runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes includes this additional event cinema content, which may encompass behind-the-scenes footage, cast interviews, or other special features curated for this anniversary celebration.
Dogma is Kevin Smith’s bold and irreverent comedy that blends satire, theology, and road-trip chaos in a uniquely unforgettable way. Featuring an all-star cast including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Alan Rickman, Linda Fiorentino, Chris Rock, and Salma Hayek, Dogma follows two fallen angels trying to exploit a loophole to reenter Heaven—an act that would unravel existence itself. With equal parts heart, humor, and heresy, this cult classic challenges faith and fandom alike, and remains as provocative and hilarious today as it was in 1999.
We are going to the 7 pm screening at the Terrace Theater.

Movie Selection:
The SHL Movie club normally meets on the first Sunday of the month. Films are usually chosen by a ranked choice vote. An email with the voting link is sent to the movie club mailing list about 10 days before the film. If you are not on the movie club mailing list, but would like to vote on future film selections email shl@lowcountryhumanists.org and ask to be added to the list.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, SHL has funds available to ensure everyone feels welcome and able to participate. If the cost of participation presents a challenge, please email us at shl@lowcountryhumanists.org, and we can discreetly arrange to cover your costs.
