Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry - In Reason we Trust

Building Community Beyond Belief, Exercising Progressive Values, and Defending Separation of Church and State

SHL members gathered in Diane and Lee’s backyard on Saturday, October 24, 2026 for a fun evening of pumpkin carving for spooky season! Participants transformed ordinary pumpkins into glowing works of art. The finished jack-o’-lanterns were as varied as their creators, including traditional spooky faces, spiders, an intricate owl, and even a pumpkin proudly displaying the SHL icon! Once it was dark enough we lined up our creations, lit them candles, and admired everyone’s handiwork.

Of course, the evening wasn’t just about pumpkins. When hanging out with our humanist friends, we like to eat, so we ordered pizza and made s’mores around the fire pit.

A big thank-you to Diane and Lee for opening their home and hosting this fun fall gathering. Check out the photos of our talented pumpkin artists and their illuminated masterpieces!
