Parking: Alexander Street Garage entrance, adjacent to the Gaillard Center (ABM Parking)

Rates: $1.00 each 20 minutes $24.00 Daily Maximum; lost ticket fee is $50
Rideshare Details: Drop off at 95 Calhoun Street Main Entrance – Grand Ballroom is on the right side
Alternative parking option: Aquarium Garage, 24 Calhoun Street, Charleston SC – about 10-minute
walk, so please plan accordingly!
WHERE TO GO ONCE YOU ARRIVE:

Once you have parked, proceed out of the garage to the Calhoun Street entrance and through security.

You will see the Grand Ballroom in the exhibition hall side, across the lobby from the performing arts side.

Once you enter, look for the check-in table and Volunteer Coordinators.

You’ll show your registration check-in confirmation on your phone and receive further instructions.
CHECK-IN DETAILS:
- Please bring your ticket or have it ready to show on your phone for check-in.
- All volunteers must pass through security screening, check in at the registration tables, and receive their table assignment before entering the Meal Pack area.
WHAT TO BRING:
● Ticket: Please have your ticket ready for check-in, either printed or accessible on your phone.
● Bag Restrictions:
- We strongly discourage bringing large purses, backpacks, totes and other similar items – all are subject to search.
- Please note that no storage will be available on-site.
- Volunteers may bring a small bag, which can be stored under the meal packing table during the event.
- There is no clear bag policy at the Gaillard Center.
● Food & Drink:
- Food and beverages are not allowed in the meal packing area.
- Water stations will be placed around the Meal Packing Floor and will be accessible to all volunteers.
WHAT TO WEAR:
● Wear comfortable, casual clothing.
- We recommend wearing company-branded shirts.
● Hats are not allowed; you will be provided with a hair net.
● Closed-toe shoes are required.
● Shorts and t-shirts are acceptable.
- The facility will be temperature controlled.
● Jewelry is not permitted while packing meals, including earrings, watches, rings, necklaces,
bracelets, pins, and brooches.
- Medical alert bracelets are allowed.
- Permanent jewelry (such as permanent bracelets) and hard to remove piercings (such as nose rings or cartilage piercings) are permitted.
- Please leave valuable items and jewelry at home whenever possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
When you arrive for your shift:
● Check-in and use the handwashing or hand sanitizing stations provided.
● You will receive a hair net or beard net.
● You will be given disposable gloves at your assigned meal pack station.
● Your team, led by a Table Captain, will work together to fill, seal, count, and box hundreds of
multi-serving pouches of nutritious non-perishable Red Lentil Jambalaya meals.
ACCESSIBILITY:
- Volunteers will stand for the entire shift.
- If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us in
advance at registration@911day.org so we can make appropriate accommodations to ensure your
participation is as comfortable as possible. - Chairs will be available in the meal packing area if you need
one during your shift.
VOLUNTEER AGE REQUIREMENT:
- Our projects are family-friendly and inclusive.
- While volunteers of all ages are welcome, we recommend children be 10 years or older to fully participate.
- Anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver, either in advance or at check-in.
- Please note that all volunteers must register for the event.
