April is Earth Month and with the Trump administration’s complete abandonment of the fight against climate change, assault on science, and erasure of basic facts relating to environmental science, it is more important, and more challenging than ever to live out the humanist value of environmentalism: “I will take care of the Earth and the life on it.” All month we will be focusing on what we can do to care for our planet.
We have arranged for a tour of the Charleston County Recycling Center at 10 am on Thursday, April 10th. The state-of-the-art recycling center, formally called the Material Recovery Facility (MRF), opened in 2020. For safety, they don’t take groups onto the processing floor, but they have a state of the art educational center, where we will be given a 10-minute presentation followed by question and answer time. We will be able to see the recycling process through viewing windows in the education center.
