Building Community Beyond Belief, Exercising Progressive Values, and Defending Separation of Church and State

Join your humanist friends on an outing to the International African American Museum in Charleston. Dedicated to honoring the untold stories of the African American journey at one of our country’s most sacred sites, the museum documents the journey that began in Africa centuries ago, and still continues today. At the entrance, the African Ancestors Memorial Garden sprawls across the grounds and reflects on the significance of the historically sacred site of Gadsden’s Wharf—where alongside several others in the Charleston Harbor—an estimated 40% of African captives entered this country. Inside, exhibitions tell the dynamic story of the international African American experience.

We will meet up in front of the museum at 10:45. Those interested in sharing a meal after the museum can go to Saffron Cafe & Bakery which is 0.4 miles from the museum.
