February is Black History Month, and so for our member gathering we will feature a talk on the hidden and under appreciated history and contributions of Black Americans in Charleston and the surrounding areas. The talk will be given by Franklin D. Williams, owner of Frankly Charleston Black History Tours. Mr. Williams has operated Frankly Charleston since 2015.
As Charleston was one of the main entry points for enslaved people entering the United States, this presentation will be an opportunity to learn about the people and cultures that have shaped the modern Lowcountry. The contributions of Black Americans are often marginalized or ignored, and with this event we aim to honor our duty to affirm the dignity and worth of every person.
4 pm on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Gage Hall, 4 Archdale St, Charleston, SC.
