For our April member gathering, on April 10, 2025, we took a tour of the Charleston Recycling Center–formally the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). Many thanks to Christina Moskos, the Program Manager for Charleston County Environmental Management, for facilitating our tour. It was a really interesting, informative and cool tour. We got all of our questions about recycling answered, and learned helpful information that we can put into use to improve our stewardship of the environment. It was also just really cool! Especially watching the aluminum cans whip off the conveyor belt in the eddy current separator towards the end of the line.
