Notes:
SHL is a very active community, and keeping members informed about all of our events generates quite a few messages. Not everyone wants all that “content” in their inbox, so we have created several special interest-based subscription options that allow members to tailor the content they receive. All subscribers will receive general announcements, but you have to opt-in to the interest-based subscriptions using the check boxes in the form above. Below is a description of our current subscription options.
Secular Families: This mailing list is for kid-friendly activities specifically targeted at secular families.
Secular Activists: Political activism, specifically relating to separation of Church and State, is a major interest for our community, and a matter of great urgency in our current political climate. This mailing list will alert you to actions you can take to advocate for secular rights, to combat the rising tide of Christian Nationalism, and to organize our community for political action.
Volunteer Network: Service to the community is important to SHL. This mailing list will alert you to volunteer opportunities you can take individually as well as volunteer activities we will be doing as a group.
Happy Humanist Hour (Dinner Club): We normally go out to a restaurant on the second Tuesday of every month for food, drinks and fellowship. Get an email when we announce the next planned dinner out. We will also use this mailing list to announce our 5th Sunday Brunches.
Book Club: Book club meets normally on the 4th Sunday of the Month. This mailing list will receive announcements after each meeting, periodic surveys about what books we might want to read, and other information that may be of interest to book club participants.
Movie Club: We normally go to a matinee on the 1st Sunday of the month, followed by food, drinks and discussion of the film at a nearby restaurant. Because showtimes are typically not released until the Tuesday or Wednesday before, we send out a survey about one week before to do a ranked-choice vote on movies we expect to be playing. To receive the survey and an announcement of the movie selection, as well as other content that may be of interest to movie-lovers, sign up for this mailing list.
Text Messaging:
- Text messages are sent from Action Network.
- To receive text messages you need to add a mobile phone number AND check the “opt-in” checkbox below it on the form above.
- An email address is required in order to be included in our Action Network database, but if you want to receive text messages but NOT receive emails, uncheck the “opt-in” checkbox for emails underneath the “Complete Sign-Up” button.
- You can reply to our text messages, but note that those replies don’t go directly to any of our volunteers. Volunteers try to regularly log in to Action Network where we can view messages received, but it may be a while before anyone sees it, so please don’t reply to our text notifications with time sensitive messages.
