Volunteer Activity: Pet Helpers

Oct 6, 2012 / 8:30-11:00 AM

1447 Folly Road

October's SHL volunteer opportunity is likely to be one of the most popular of the year. We will be working at Pet Helpers, a very pleasant animal shelter on James Island. After helping with what their staff call the "morning rituals" (cleaning, feeding, walking, etc.) we also will get to play with the animals who are there. We have been told that if we have enough volunteers, we can also help them with their "Phase B" project. We're not sure exactly what that means, but it sure sounds cool!

We will meet at Pet Helpers (1447 Folly Road) at 8:30AM on Saturday October 6th. The first half hour will be a training session and then we will get to work.

A few notes: Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes and long pants. Children old enough to help are welcome to join us so long as they are supervised by an adult. Also, Pet Helpers would gladly accept donations of pet toys, Pedigree canned dog food, Friskies or 9 Lives canned cat food, towels and sheets, etc.

If you plan to join us, PLEASE write to to let us know. We would like to be able to plan ahead and let them know if we'll have a big enough team for "Phase B".
