The following e-mail announcement was sent by John Childs to the Book Group mailing list:
First let me apologize to those who did not receive the posting for this months book. After finding that the book was not announced last Monday as I thought, others have made an effort to get the word out. This note is to make an effort to remind everyone of the upcoming Book Group meeting.
Our next meeting is scheduled for 4:00 PM, 3/23/14, the fourth Sunday of March at our usual location, the Barnes and Noble on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. We will discuss “The Happiness Hypothesis” by Jonathan Haidt. A brief description of the book from the Amazon purchase site follows. Remember when you purchase from Amazon and mention our organization in the body of the purchase we receive up to a 15% credit.
“In his widely praised book, award-winning psychologist Jonathan Haidt examines the world’s philosophical wisdom through the lens of psychological science, showing how a deeper understanding of enduring maxims-like Do unto others as you would have others do unto you, or What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger-can enrich and even transform our lives.”
Keep in mind that many of our most engaged discussions are generated by attendees that have not read the book and all are welcome to come and share in the engaging discussions generated by those who have. After the meeting we will as usual go out to eat at a local establishment. Bring your book ideas for future reading.
We look forward to seeing you on the 23rd.
John and Barbara
