Camp Quest South Carolina 2012

The following e-mail announcement was sent by Amy Monsky to the Family Friendly Activities mailing list:

Greetings everyone! Summer is just around the corner, so, if you haven't already, it's time to start thinking about summer camp options! I'd like to share some information about upcoming Camp Quest programs that those of you with kids may be interested in.

Camp Quest is a residential summer camp based on humanist values. Amid traditional summer camp activities like swimming, boating, sports, and campfires, c ampers put their science and critical thinking skills to the test to examine the natural world, collaborate on team challenges, and explore their developing worldviews from a secular perspective.

Camp Quest is open to campers from all backgrounds. We encourage campers to think for themselves, be comfortable with who they are, and engage respectfully with those who have different views.

The first Camp Quest was held in Kentucky back in 1996 and has steadily grown to 14 camps across North America and 3 overseas. As part of this growth, Camp Quest South Carolina will have its first summer camp session this year!! (There was a family weekend camp last year and there will be another one this year. More information will come on that later.) For more information on Camp Quest in general and CQSC in particular, you can listen to an interview that I did last year at or you can check out Camp Quest's main website at

Camp Quest is run entirely by unpaid adult (18yo and older) volunteers who take a week out of their busy schedule to make this the best week possible for our kids. It is a very rewarding experience and many staff members return year after year. If you are interested in volunteering as a staff member, please fill out the staff application at And finally, Camp Quest couldn't succeed without the generosity of donors to fund our programs and activities and to help provide camperships. Please visit to learn about the different ways of supporting Camp Quest.

Happy camping!
