|Great editorial about healthcare freedom of conscience regs|
New England Journal of Medicine published a nice editorial this week by Julie Cantor, MD. JD. concerning the new "health provider freedom of conscience" rules put in place in the last days of the Bush presidency. Currently in a period of public comment before implementation, the rules grant anyone involved in health care delivery (including insurance company employees, people who set up appointments, sterilize surgical equipment, etc.) from being discriminated against in any way if they refuse to take part in providing (in any way) any medical procedure that they have a moral objection to.
