|Pastors Get Political|
The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) (founded in 1994 by James Dobson) is encouraging preachers across the country (presumably only Evangelical ones who support Republican candidates) to advise their congregations how to vote as part of their sermons on September 21, according to this article in the Washington Post.
This is interesting because there is no law specifically preventing religious organizations from being political. The law prohibits TAX EXEMPT organizations from being political, and churches just happen to like their tax exempt status.
The reason that this is really interesting is that September 21st also happens to be the day of our next meeting. Do you think that the ADF's belief that the ban is unconstitutional would extend to other non-profits like ours as well?
