Scooby-Doo as the Secular Humanist Veggie Tales?

It had occurred to us before that there was a somewhat good message in the old Scooby-Doo cartoons in that the scary monsters always turned out to be some creepy old (non-magical) guy. But this BoingBoing.net post takes this idea farther. The author of the post really analyzes what the freethought message of Scooby-Doo is...gives me new respect for that otherwise somewhat lame cartoon. (But, am I remembering right, that the live action movie messed up this theme and showed them finding something really supernatural to fight after all?)
