Bill Nye the Science Guy Takes a Stand for Reason

"Bill Nye Booed in Waco for pointing out Moon reflects the Sun

Nye angered a few audience members when he criticized literal interpretation of Genesis 1:16, which reads: “God made two great lights — the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.” He pointed out that the moon, which really is not a light at all, rather a reflector of light."

the original article is unobtainable for some reason. i heard from someone that he studied under carl sagan at one point in his career. texas seriously concerns me...so many disasters from there.

The one bright shining light of human reason - Waco.

I think they may be right, science is just beginning to catch up with religion. The moon DOES produce its own light. God said so.

I saw him speak a few years ago here in Myrtle Beach. Sounds like he did about the same speech (at least that part). I never knew much about him, other than his program. After hearing him speak, I decided to do some more research on him. Now he is one of me heroes.

Yes he DID study under Sagan at Cornell.

Anyway, I recorded his talk (as much of it as I could) and have a copy at my house. I'd be glad to share if I can dig it up.

BTW...he was talking to a group of science teachers. After hearing some of the comments from other teachers, I understand why we aren't too far up there on our science scores. Some were actually upset that he would even MENTION evolution. I felt like asking for their "science teacher card" so they wouldn't be allowed to taint any more young minds.
