Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson on Climate Change?

Interesting piece in the NY Times about the discussion of climate change among our Founding Fathers. Yes, it seems they did discuss it and understood it reasonably well. Of course, they were in FAVOR of it because it seemed to be making the Americas more livable than the European stereotype of it, but they did understand it.

(Note: The author's point seems to be that it was apparent even then that this was happening, and now that we have so much data and so many validated models, there should be no doubt that this is a serious problem.)
